What kind of blower would I need for this pistol kit?
Eric S on Oct 2, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I prefer female, but you be you.
How many inches is the barrel from when the gas block ends?
Marco F on Feb 2, 2019
What kind of lower would I need for this kit?
Eric S on Oct 2, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Any new lower that says "multi-cal" or some such. If a lower is assembled as a rifle first, it is always a rifle in the eyes of the law, so start as a pistol. Otherwise, the ATF will talk to you about your unregistered SBR.
Is this type 2 bolt?
Roger B on Nov 2, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes. I have one and love it.
Will this fit a pa10 lower?
Garrett H on Oct 9, 2018
BEST ANSWER: To my knowledge - no. These are designed for AR-15 lower. The 6.5 creedmore is designed for the AR-10 lower.
Is this a 300 blackout? Or chambered to .556/.223
Davidg on Dec 20, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Is this a joke?.....this has to be a joke!
The “full auto” BCG included with this, is that the standard style? Not wanting to purchase a full auto kit.
Chris L on Feb 27, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The BCG full auto designation is really only an inference to the style of cut outs and dimensions of the BCG. The bolt carrier would be compatible with an automatic capable lower receiver. It is NOT however inherently automatic. This is very common, though there are semi-automatic only BCG's out there as well.
Does this kit come with a 6.5 Grendel specific buffer tube plunger and spring or is it rated for 5.56/2.23?
colton s on Apr 9, 2019
BEST ANSWER: An AR will run without the buffer retainer plunger, just have to pop both pins instead of break/tilt off the front pin. In other words, I don't see how it would even matter.
If you're talking about the actual recoil buffer/spring, that doesn't matter either, it's absorbing the recoil from the gas port/bcg, not a larger cartridge, so that doesn't matter either.
You may have to play with buffer weights for reliability, but that's an entirely different matter.
OK so a lower , bought solo, can be fitted to a pistol upper, and be a legal pistol?
Thomas C on Nov 22, 2018
BEST ANSWER: My class 111 FFL contact stats that when you buy a stripped lower it has never been designated as a pistol or a rifle and can be built by the buyer and designated to be what ever he builds.
Does the handguard on this upper use a non indexing barrel nut?
CLINTON on Oct 10, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes, you can tell by the bottom of the hand guard where it meets the upper receiver. The bottom of the hand guard is pronounced and two bolts run through it to clamp the hand guard to the barrel nut.
What weight buffer is typically used for 6.5 grendel. Info says standard ?

Anyone have tips on a lite weight build? My son has a 10” 300 blackout 7lbs.

Excellent Value & Quality 6.5 Grendel
I completed an Aero Precision pistol build with a 12.5" Faxon barrel in 6.5 Grendel a several months ago and fell in love with the feel, handling and accuracy of it. The purpose was to build a lightweight/small package hunting gun that I could keep with me all the time on the farm in my tractor/UTV. I wanted something that had enough punch for groundhogs, coyotes, hogs, and deer all the way out to 400 yards, and the 6.5 Grendel was the cartridge I settled on to best meet my needs in that compact package. Then a few months later I see this PSA 6.5 Grendel pistol kit for sale for $469. Curiosity got the better of me and I bought the build kit to compare it to my Aero/Faxon build.

When the kit arrived, I put it all together with a PSA stripped lower I already had and took it to the range. First, let me say that the quality of the kit was excellent, which is what I have come to expect from PSA. All the parts were there in the kit (nothing missing), and fit and finish were excellent. Everything went together, as expected, with no issues. The PSA build has a tiny bit of slop between the upper and lower that I don't get in the Aero/Faxon build because of the tension screw that Aero has in their lowers that allows me to eliminate that slop. A bonus in the PSA build was that the BCG had "6.5 Grendel" engraved on it, visible through the ejection port of the upper when assembled. This should help anyone with a multi-caliber AR collection. I usually leave an empty 20rd mag with a caliber label on it to help me, so this was a nice bonus. I then took it to the range to test it against my Areo/Faxon build (which was decidedly more expensive without optics). Another bonus in this kit was the adjustable gas block, which allowed me to fine-tune the gas to get the optimal ejection/recoil I wanted. The trigger supplied with the kit is PSAs nickel boron EPT trigger, which was smooth and came in just over 5 lbs. I mounted a Primary Arms 1-8 optic on this build with their Griffin ACSS reticle, which they already built a 6.5 Grendel reference chart as a base to use with this reticle.

I used 2 loads of ammo - Wolf 100gr FMJ and Hornady 123 ELD match. I dialed in the gun using the wolf ammo and was happy to see it group at 1.97" at 100 yards, which was almost the same as my Aero/Faxon build (1.95"). For cheap plinking ammo ($5 a box) this is great! Recoil was just slightly more in the PSA than my Aero/Faxon build, but that build has the VG6 muzzle device, while the PSA build had the standard brake with tuned gas block. Also noteworthy is that the recoil out of the 6.5 Grendel is not hard at all, and easily managed. The ELD match ammo produced average groups of .93" in the PSA, which the Aero/Faxon build was at .81". Function was flawless in both, and I am extremely happy with the PSA build that was almost half the cost of my custom build (without optics) and still produced sub-moa accuracy with match loads.

I can't speak to longevity on either gun yet, but I am happy with what I have seen so far! You can't beat the value of the PSA builds, so if you are on a budget I would highly recommend going this route.

Fantastic buy for the money.
I’m in love with this upper. Easily kept 2moa 5 shot groups with 100 grain wolf!! The Hornady 123 ELD shoots right at 1 MOA

The hand guard was loose and slid forward after 5 shots. I torqued the screw and ran 100 more without issue.

Great pistol (rifle)... Kicks like a mule.
Great quality pistol (rifle). I will be putting on a muzzle brake to help reduce felt recoil.

Man this rocks. Great truck “pistol”. Solid package. Mates up well with Anderson lower. No complaints. I can hit soda cans at 200 meters with a 4x optic.

6.5 Grendel 12” Nitride pistol
Really like this pistol, shoots good. I added a tactical latch, swapped out EPT for a 2 stage trigger, 1-6 optic, quick disconnect sling swivels and Blackhawk sling. Makes a very handy package. Pistol has functioned 100%. I wouldn’t hesitate buying another one. The 6.5 Grendel cartridge is very versatile, even out of a 12” barrel.
